John Randall, 5th, with his family, consisting of a wife and nine children, removed from Stonington, CT, in 1797, and settled first in Pharsalia, Chenango County, NY. In the year 1800 he removed to Norwich, in the same County, where he purchased of Avery Power two hundred and eighty-six acres of land, located south of the village, for which he paid $4,100. It is known as the Randall farm, and embraces some of the most valuable and productive land in that section: a portion of the land is still owned by is descendants. John Randall was one of the constituent members of the first Baptist Church of Norwich, organized 18th Aug. 1814, of which his brother, Rev. Jedediah Randall, was the first pastor.
